Week In Review

Week in Review

What are we up to this week?

Sam is finally catching up in Supergirl (yeah yeah). Speaking of,  super (get it!?) awesome director Lexi Alexander had a twitter interaction with Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras that totally made Sam’s week. Then Gail Simone joined the fun and offered to write the episode! PS, watch Wynonna Earp, it’s great.

Anika has, again, still, been watching a lot of Star Trek to get ready for her cons, and also the 50th Anniversary next week, and also because Anika watches a lot of Star Trek. But when she watches Star Trek, especially in prep for a con or a photo-cap or fashion project, she has to pay attention and can’t also focus on getting her notes in order, packing, and hand sewing a shrug for her B’Elanna inspired outfit (because ROXANN DAWSON will be at Star Trek Missions!) SO, Anika has also been watching a lot of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Seasons 13-17 are now available on Netflix. These are the “No Stabler” years, which Anika doesn’t mind at all because he’s replaced by Nick Amaro (Danny Pino, who she’s loved since Cold Case and still loves on BrainDead) and Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and they are both the best. Also , Olivia (or maybe her costumer) is totally a secret Star Trek fan as evidenced by the dress she wears above, and the jacket she wears below.

Sam watched The Intervention this week, which is sort of like a Gen X The Big Chill but MORE IMPORTANTLY, is an unofficial But I’m a Cheerleader reunion. It wasn’t the best movie ever, but was certainly intense and worth a watch for the cast. If you’ve only ever seen Ben Schwartz as Ralphio from Parks and Recreation he’s kind of a revelation here.

This one’s probably NSFW, but the trailer for Below Her Mouth was released this week. Sam’s excited for this one not just because it’s an erotic queer lady movie, but because the writer, director and entire crew are women. So it’s like what Blue is the Warmest Color should have been. Also one of the actresses was in Wynonna Earp.

FULL CIRCLE.
