Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD
Note: We are reviewing separate seasons of the remaining series, but SHIELD as a whole.
Anika: 2-3 Pips
I start watching, with some excitement, every Fall but I don’t think I have seen a single season finale. I just stop watching somewhere along the way. I get fatigued? I don’t know, I like the series but I can’t watch more than 15 episodes per season.
Sam: 1 1/2 Pips
So I watched the first few episodes and was underwhelmed and annoyed by Ward. My friends told me it got better after Winter Soldier, so I tried again and in literally the first episode they killed a queer woman (after I guess killing her comic book girlfriend in the previous season) and the creators gave an awful interview about it. So I was out. Then I watched some clips of Mockingbird, and Daisy/Simmons fanvids. I’m sure it’s fun, though.
Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season One)
Anika: 4 Pips
I loved this show. L-O-V-E loved. Dottie and Peggy and Angie, oh my. And Jarvis! I even loved Howard Stark and Jack’s character arc. Ugh, the Black Widow stuff still gets me just thinking about it.
Sam: 3 1/2 Pips
It was like Bomb Girls with superheroing! (Aside: I love Bomb Girls, and recommend checking it out, but don’t watch the wrap up movie.) It had a few flaws, like lack of people of color, the total lack of chemistry between the leads they wanted us to root for to get together, and coming dangerously close to queerbaiting, BUT it was otherwise so good and is still one of my favorite live action superhero stories of all time.
Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season Two)
Anika: 2 Pips
And then season two happened. I don’t think I ever even finished the season/series. There were still great parts — marry me, Ana Jarvis — but I didn’t like the overall direction and Peggy/Sousa is my NOTP #SorryNotSorry
Sam: 1 1/2 Pips
I definitely didn’t finish this. It just… went the total wrong way with everything, and the joy was gone. Same thing happened with the Bomb Girls wrap up movie, which is why you shouldn’t watch that, either.
Daredevil (Season One)
Anika: 3 Pips
It took me forever to start, but once I got into it, I really liked the series. Mainly Foggy and Karen, and Claire deserves her own show.
Sam: 3 Pips
I liked this way more than I thought I would. Karen and Foggy sort of brought me down (sometimes Anika and I don’t agree!) but everyone else in this was great. And D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, wow. One of the most engaging villains in a long long time.
Jessica Jones
Anika: 4 Pips
I love everything about this series. It’s brutal, but it’s beautiful.
Sam: 4 Pips
One of the best TV shows ever made, fight me.
Daredevil (Season Two)

Um, I’ve not yet watched this season. Oops?
Sam: 3 Pips
I think I liked this better than season one? By like 1/4 of a pip. Foggy and Karen annoyed me less (though Karen’s storyline was awful awful awful and I won’t explain why because spoilers) but this actually made me like Frank Castle, a character I have never cared for, so much that I’ve since read some Punisher comics. And I loved Elektra, and liked how they did the ending with her. Also I guess Matt was in it again.
